20 time isn't about deadline or making sure that project are due on time it is about exploring. People don’t always realize that not all thing to explore and learn are in labs or quantum physics theory that some of the best thing to explore are the basic thing. Go back to the root of humanity and enjoy the wonders of nature. No matter how many wonder of man can make to amaze the world nature will always find a way because nature conquer all reclaims all that we take from it and can take on everything we can through at it.

I for one will not give up on my project. school is ending and this project is no loner being graded but why not keep learning. knowledge is power and in this case that power could keep me alive when others fall short. I also learned the best lesson of survival mental. You could be able to run a thousand miles a day but if you break down mentally you will never make it. this i what i learned that i was exhausted. running on no sleep or food i was still able to keep working caring load after load that should have exhausted me. with a positive attitude hunger and thirst no longer bothered me this is what i really learned about my project is sure power of will.

This i what i can take away. follow your dreams and do your passions and to who ever says your crazy"or "you should do that" tell them you can do what ever you want, and tell them to s#*&w themselves.

End of captains log
I did promise videos. sorry they took so long but i am better with knives and rope that computers and cameras.

I lived, i know it's was great and my survival outing was a success  bellow me you see the beautiful shelter that protected me from the wind and the cold. unfortunately the was a little to much wind and a bit to much cold so it had to improve it and add the other side and add a thick bedding.

my night wasn't comfortable but i can tell you the two most vital thing I learn.

1) fire is you friend and they can be hard to light always be prepare and have materials set asides to make one in a moments notice it can save your life. fire was my best friend that kept me warm through the night. personal I am good at fire making and can light a fire in almost any condition this is due to a misguided child hood, but not everyone is so if you ever plan on camping or doing high adventure camping of any type learning fire building can be the difference between life and death.

2) Dress well and plan ahead. I didn't plan ahead as well as should have been and was not dressed well for my camp out  a light jacket and a rain coat will keep you alive in a 30 degree night but you will be miserable. i probably lost three pound shivering that night. that is the reason i left early the second knight was going to significantly colder that the first so i left a bit early.

till later.

Unfortunately my plan for this week end fell through. they changed the week of their outing to June. That not going to stop me though I decided to do my own warm up. I am going out this weekend and staying Saturday night and leaving Sunday morning. So let hope there is a lack of rain which there won't be because it's Michigan. This should let me test my fire lighting and shelter building which I already am pretty good at. A while ago I decided when I go camping stop bring tents and make my own. All my friends think I am crazy for doing this but hey it's fun. Most of the time I sleep dryer and better then they do.

The key thing I saw and very much agree with is the 1ft rule. To make a good shelter you need at least 1ft of leaves or branches to stay high and dry. Oak branches don't work well what you really want is pine or cedar. Fire lighting everyone thinks is simple. With a Gallon of gas and a lighter it is but with just a flint it quick hard and you need to know what to use and where to find it. The inner bark of most trees works well and the outer can be used to keep it of the ground so it doesn't get wet.
Any question can be put in comments.

pieces coming together

My Project is finally coming together. I have set a time may 17 to do my survival outing and I got a place. I starting to get really excited about this. One of my dads friends is letting me use his hunting property. it a nice couple of acres that even has a small pond so I can try fishing. I also finally found a mentor  Paul Popa an avid hunter also the owner of the property so he's advising me on where everything is there. I even got a practice try lined up. My friend is doing a survival outing this weekend with his boy scout troop 763 he asked me to come with him and help teach and put on the outing for the rest of his troop. this should be a great opportunity to practice a lot of the shelters I've been researching and I promise to post pictures soon of them and the property. some basic survival tips I've learned so far. ferns and cattail roots are both edible and if you need a quick emergency shelter pile up leaves about 3 feet the crawl in side the pile. this will both keep you warm and waterproof through the night and takes minutes to make.

I bought a cheap survival kit recently. It was only about ten bucks and it's the one I am planning on bringing with me on my outing. It really doesn't have to be much but it is something every hiker would bring with them making this a lot more realistic. I'm not as afraid any more.
I am not afraid of the dark or the woods. I have everything I need. I could do with a little more information on edible plants and their medicinal uses. I am just waiting on the weather. That really scares me because the weather is so unpredictable. It could be Raining and miserable or sunny and bright, and this scares me. The lack of control I have and the unpredictability of mother nature could make my trip very miserable and dangerous.

I am worried.
